the other spices and herbs , I made simple syrups - with my most notable being the lemongrass syrup . I used Grenada ’ s renowned white , strong rum : White Jack from Westerhall Rums .
Last , my twist on the “ Moscow Mule ”. which is called the Spice Isle Mule . For this mix , I used a Grenadian owned and locally distilled spirit named Blue Light Gin . We were instructed to create a gin carnival drink as Grenada is famously known for our carnival , fondly named Spice Mas , which is customarily held in August . For this drink , I prepared a ginger simple syrup and sorrel simple syrup mix . The colours of this drink symbolize different aspects of Grenada , namely :
- The dark color of this mix signifies the oil rich nature and culture of our Mas and Jab .
- The garnish represents the flamboyance of our pretty mas which is another aspect of our festive Spicemas .
