Can you share the hidden spices that you ’ ve discovered as you prepare your favorite dish ?
Nutmeg , cinnamon , Ginger , Turmeric , cocoa , clove , and allspice are spices that I use in almost everything . I have created various spice blends and rubs and sauces with these spices . I change the ratios added to each to create different flavours profiles .
For someone who has not yet been to Grenada , how would you describe the culinary aspect of the island ?
Grenada has a diverse group of people who have migrated to Grenada and all have come with various cuisines from their countries to blend within the present culinary landscape of the island . This makes for a variety of tasty food options that will interest most visitors . We are an official culinary destination because we are able to create a meal for any palate .
8 : How can visitors to the island best eat locally ? Restaurants on the beach ? Dinners at ultra-luxe resorts ? Mom and Pop spots in the country ? What do you recommend ?
All these locations offer different experiences . This is what makes Grenada the first culinary capital and the variety of options one can experience on the island . It depends on what type of experience the traveler is open to . I would recommend experiencing EVERYTHING !!
And finally , the island is fondly dubbed The Spice Island . Can you share the meaning of this with us ? What are the spices grown on the island that make Grenada so special and so fragrant ?
We earned this name as we are blessed with a wealth of Nutmeg , allspice , clove and cinnamon . There are so many spices here that stand out . But our “ Nutmeg “ is the Star .
