Jenny Noel
Singer , songwriter and recording artist
Jenny Noel was born and raised in Perdmontemps , St . David ’ s , in the beautiful island of Grenada . Before migrating to Montreal , Canada , she was an elementary School Teacher for two years . Presently , Jenny is an Educator at Philip E . Layton School for the Visually Impaired and other disabilities .
She is the proud mother of Jenna , whom she sings with occasionally . She is a singer , songwriter and recording artist , who recorded her first CD entitled : “ I ’ m Not Turning Back .” One of the tracks , “ Oh My Island ” is lyrically featuring the lovely Isle of Spice . A few years later , Jenny wrote “ My Homeland ”, which you can see her singing with her daughter , Jenna , for the Spice Island Cultural Day Festival , on YouTube . In that same day ’ s event , the Spice Kids are being featured in their Short Knee costumes singing Noel ’ s lyrical composition , “ Come to Grenada Come ”, but to the melody of Tingalayo .
Some of her other favoured compositions are : “ He Gives Me Everything ,” a gospel song sung by Dennis James , a St Lucian living in Montreal , “ Reach Out Your Hands To Haiti ,” which is labeled as Caribbean Voices 2 on Youtube .
Jenny is the founder of the show “ The YoungStars Calypso Competition ” featuring children under the age of 16 . She is also the founder of “ Caribbean Voices ”, a popular
Montreal singing group made up of over 25 voices from people all over the Caribbean . Jenny was a founding member of Simon ’ s Dance Company , Spice Island Dynamic Dancers , and the Grenada Ensemble , a Grenadian Folk Performing group residing in Montreal . She was also a member of the Montreal Calypso Association and presently , a member of The Spice Island Cultural Day Association of Quebec ( SICDAQ ).
Noel was the initial organizer and coordinator of the first Grenada Hurricane Relief Concert in 2004 , which raised over $ 7,000 . She has also organized and / or coordinated several events including entertainment for Eastern Caribbean Day in the Park , the St . Lucia / St . Vincent / Dominica Disaster Concert in 2014 and the Philip E . Layton School Fundraising Concerts in 2015 and 2018 .
Jenny has performed in Montreal , Toronto , and Florida . She has shared the stage doing background-vocals for local and international singers like The Ajamu , Black Stalin , The Baron , Mighty Sparrow , Calypso Rose , Flying Turkey , Scrunter , Mighty Duke , Lord Nelson , Skippy , Doggies , Dennis James and many more .
Jenny enjoys working with children and being involved in cultural events .
