love for music but it was only done at church . There were many attempts to get me into the junior calypso competition by Scholar because of my talent but because of religious beliefs at the time I wasn ’ t allowed - even though I was allowed to attend the semi finals of the junior competition every year - at that time it took place in St . David .
Later on as a young adult , I joined the cultural
group , “ Privilege Theatre ” under the leadership of Mr . Neil Ferguson . The group was well known for performing in many presentations for many
caliber of artists in soca and calypso . As a result , I was introduced to the Dimache Gras stage as an actor . That same year , Scholar brought me on as one of his background vocalist and there I became a fixer in the back vocals for him . I eventually started doing back vocals for a few other artists in the Groovy and Power Soca competitions , namely Pappi Boi , Stunner , and Terra d Governor among others . In 2015 , Neil Ferguson wrote me two calypso songs but I never took them to competition . Fast forward to 2019 , I finally made up my mind to sing and take part in competition . Again I went back to Mr Neil Ferguson with an idea for a calypso called “ First Time ” to mark my first time taking part .
