Hah, I reader, this is not an article about labeling people or generalizations. It is about the magnificent,
lovely yet complex at times to understand, art styles.
Now in all honesty, If you’re an art person I’m absolutely sure you’ve come across terms such as
abstract, cartoon or realistic. And it not very hard to differentiate from those terms either, that each of
them are just an art style or a way you present your art work. To begin with, I’d like for you to brain
storm a little bit and think through what the words “art style” and “art” mean, you may choose
whether to do after reading the article or before it, you are in power of your choice so it is entirely up to
you.
Abstract
Abstract is usually a random art work done with either lines, colours and shapes, using any medium
really, which may also at times hold a hidden meaning behind it. You can literally go absolutely crazy
with your artistic mind and nobody will ever judge you! Because it is art, there are no boundaries in
abstract unlike realism which we’ll cover in later in the article.
Realism
Realism is just as the word says, drawing/painting realistically. Most great artists and generally the art
hypnotized people do learn how to draw realistic through observing what is in front of them and by
thinking what shapes the object consists of. For example, if you’re drawing a bunny, you could have
most of its body divided into circles when you’re sketching out with the pencil to make your life easier.
Can I learn to draw realistically other than the way you’ve mentioned? Maybe, if you’d be enough
satisfied, but really the best action you can take to get the best outcome is to observe with your eyes! It
also helps your eyes get better and catch more and more little detail as you keep practicing.
