BALLIN’ OUT
By Lawrence “King Law” Davis
DUKE
FB: The Blue Devils were
on top of the Coastal
Division with Georgia
Tech right on their heels.
Both teams were the only
ones to manage to have
two losses or less in the
slightly weaker division
of the ACC, yet a victory
in Atlanta gave Duke an
advantage in a tie-break
situation. Duke lost two
out of the last three in their final three home game stretch to end their season.
They had a heartbreaker to Virginia Tech slip away from them before regaining
their composure to face their rivals from down the street. The Blue Devils came
out and turned the ball over twice in the first half while giving up more points
in the first quarter than they averaged all season in a lopsided loss to the Tar
Heels. The loss to UNC knocked the Blue Devils from ACC Championship repeat
contention but however Duke has a strong 8-3 record heading in to what should
be a wild bowl season.
Sidenote: Jamison Crowder is slowly climbing the list of the all-time receptions
leader of the ACC. He is 16 catches (268) behind his former teammate Conner
Vernon from the record of 283 set back in 2012. He recently became the 11th
player in the ACC to have over 5000 all-purpose yards in a career.
Upcoming Games:
Nov. 20 vs. UNC, Nov. 29 vs. Wake
MBB: Duke opened their season with a 113-44 victory behind their highly
anticipated freshman class
