The company said that it has been proven in eye irritation and patch tests and is suitable as an alternative to surfactants containing sulfate or ethylene oxide derivatives . Another launch was Verdessence Tara , which is part of the rebranded biopolymer portfolio . Made from sustainable Peruvian tara seed gum , this is said to exhibit a thickening and texturising performance and to be suitable for skin microbiome-friendly formulations . It is also compatible with algae and xanthan gums in the same range , “ allowing to formulate a broad range of aqueous and emulsion systems ”, BASF said .

The company describes it as “ an excellent additive to aid in the deposition of actives such as silicones , oils , antidandruff agents on hair without any build-up associated ”.
