Syneqt to manage two chemical parks

Evonik has created a new company called Syneqt to manage the infrastructure activities of the Marl and Wesseling chemical parks in Germany. Starting operations on 1 January 2026, Syneqt will generate turnover of about € 1.8 billion / year, making it one of the largest providers of services to the process industries in North Rhine-Westphalia.
Although Syneqt will remain a wholly owned subsidiary of Evonik and part of its long-term efficiency measures, it will be“ a powerful company with medium-sized structures and fast decision-making”, according to labour director Thomas Wessel. Other investors may also take stakes in the future.
Syneqt will employ around 3,500 people, mostly at Marl, and bring expertise in areas such as energy supply, pipeline construction and operation, facility and plant management, technical services, waste disposal, port operations, plant logistics, fire brigades and plant security. Alongside Evonik itself, it is already providing services to about 25 companies.
“ We have combined all the qualifications and fundamentals to be able to develop the sites in the long term into climate-neutral, digitally networked and highly flexible industrial ecosystems with modular, tailor-made assets, closed material cycles and smart services,” said management spokesman Thomas Basten.“ In the future, we will be able to concentrate fully on these core tasks and thus retain existing customers in the long term and attract new ones.”
Growth opportunities are also seen in the wider Rhine-Ruhr chemical industry. Marl, Evonik’ s largest production site, and Wesseling already operate an industrial hydrogen network and are connected to raw material and energy pipelines.
IN BRIEF
Alkoxides plant opens Evonik has inaugurated the 100,000 tonnes / year alkoxides facility on Jurong Island, Singapore, which it originally announced in May 2023. The“ mid-double-digit-million-euro investment” will meet growing demand and secure regional supply alongside sites in Germany, the US and Argentina. Alkoxides are mainly used as catalysts for sustainable biodiesel fuel but also for APIs and fine chemicals.
Esteve acquires Regis Spain’ s Esteve Química has acquired US CDMO Regis Technologies on undisclosed terms. This gives Esteve a physical presence in the US and expands its CDMO services for smallmolecule APIs“ across the entire drug development lifecycle”. Regis’ s services include process R & D, analytical and stability testing, cGMP API manufacturing, CMC support and chromatography, while Esteve is also active in spray drying and HPAPIs.
Hydrolite 5 expansion Symrise has opened a new production unit for its Hydrolite 5 brand of biobased pentylene glycol for personal care uses, at Granada, Spain. The facility is modelled on an existing one in the US, will use a continuous production process and is aimed at shortening the supply chain. Hydrolite 5 is a multifunctional ingredient for skin hydration and hair fibre enhancement. The company said it is in high demand.
