Securing the pharma supply chain

Within the pharmaceutical industry, there are currently fewer subjects being spoken about with more importance than supply chain strategies. With global political issues concerning the sourcing of APIs and rising costs affecting the cost of transport, labour and raw materials, manufacturers of both drug substances and drug products are under scrutiny from customers and internal managers to ensure that projects remain economically viable and the delivery of goods is not affected.
Supply chain strategy is a key consideration to aid the efficient delivery of API projects: some customers already have a strategy in place, others need advice and guidance regarding their options, but aligning with either need should be viewed as a transparent and collaborative process. The ultimate objective is to ensure a robust, qualifiable supply chain that can meet the demands of the molecule as it progresses through the regulatory phases when the process scales up.
