DC Fine Chemicals expands in Spain
DC Fine Chemicals has laid the first stone at its new € 7 million headquarters in Terrassa , Spain . This comprises a 3,050 m ² building on a 7,300 m ² site , which will allow for total storage without the need for external warehouses and capacity of up to 1,900 pallets on seven levels , compared to the 900 in the former warehouse .
The firm said that the new centre also “ presents significant advances in terms of sustainability and energy efficiency ”. It has 108 photovoltaic panels capable of generating 50 kW of cleaner energy and was designed to incorporate green areas “ to complement its commitment to the environment ”.
DC supplies fine chemicals for diagnostics , pharmaceuticals and process solutions . The 30,000 products in its catalogue include bile acids , nucleic acids , amino acids , antimicrobials , APIs , carbohydrates , dyes and indicators , enzymes , excipients , analytical reagents and biological buffers .
New facility for Gelest
Mitsubishi Chemical subsidiary Gelest has marked the groundbreaking for its latest production facility , the eighth in all , on a brownfield site at its headquarters in Morrisville , Pennsylvania . This will enhance its capabilities in applications such as microelectronics , medical devices , advanced thermal coatings and mobility , the firm stated .
Covering over 4,600 m 2 , the new facility is due to be completed by September 2024 . During the first phase of production , Gelest plans to hire more than 25 employees , with additional recruitment phases to follow as the operation scales to match demand . This will roughly double employment levels at the site .
Key features in the new facility will include equipment for the development , analysis , packaging and largescale manufacturing of highly specialised chemistries . To ensure quality and chemical purity , it will also have a 275 m 2 ISO 7 cleanroom featuring advanced analytical instrumentation .
