Flamma to invest worldwide
CDMO Flamma Group is to invest about $ 200 million over the next three years across its network of sites in Italy , the US and China , as it “ continues to respond to market demands that require future growth and opportunity ”. This includes :
• Revamping the site at Bulciago , Italy , that was acquired in 2022
• Completing the new GMP facility at the Flamma Honkai site in Dalian , China , where small molecule API and NCE capacity will ultimately quadruple to 800 m 3 to meet growing domestic demand
• Building out an API cleanroom and other improvements to the HPAPI capabilities at Flamma USA
• Additional improvements to two other Italian facilities at Chignolo and Isso , with upgrades to the existing analytical services and installing new equipment , including reactors and filter dryers
• Growing existing flow chemistry capabilities at Flamma Italy
• Adding new technologies across all of the sites
• Adding solar panels to source renewable energies “ In consideration of the current geo-political environment , Flamma is proactively securing customers ’ supply chains by having the ability to transfer projects from China to Italy , specifically its Bulciago site ,” the company said . “ Flamma offers the market a unique value proposition where one can still work in China but also have the security of working simultaneously in Italy .”
Drug product centre opens
Following two years of construction work , CDMO Siegfried has officially opened its new development centre for drug products at its sites in Barberà del Vallès and El Masnou near Barcelona . About 40 specialist scientists will work there .
The centre features laboratories and pilot capacities , including dedicated facilities for highly potent oral solid dosage forms . Siegfried said that the opening also completes the successful integration of the two sites into its network . It originally acquired them from Novartis in 2020 .

Three new global labs for Azelis
Azelis has announced the opening of new laboratories within the space of a month . Each covers different applications and is located on different continent .
A new pharmaceuticals and healthcare application laboratory in Courbevoie , France , complements existing ones in the UK and Turkey , the company said . This is equipped to address challenges in areas such as API solubilisation and bioavailability , compliance , counterfeiting and misuse , and the optimisation of formulations and production processes
In India , Azelis has opened a new agricultural and environmental solutions laboratory , which focuses on formulation support for crop protection , seed treatment and micronutrient formulations aligned with international methods and standards . Azelis India has similar laboratories in other areas , including pharmaceuticals and healthcare , and personal care .
Earlier , Azelis opened a new personal care laboratory in Midrand , South Africa . Alongside another in Cairo , Egypt , this will cover the Middle East and Africa , offering support in applications like hair care , skin care , sun care , baby care , oral care and colour cosmetics , with a focus on the specific needs of Africans .
