All change at CBA
Tim Doggett , previously managing director of Clugston Distribution Services , became the new CEO of the Chemical Business Association ( CBA ), which represents the UK chemical distribution sector , on 1 May , following the retirement of Peter Newport . Shortly before , the CBA had elected Kate Mingay of Dakram Materials and Richard Gilkes of Stort Chemicals as chair and vice-chair respectively .
Anderson goes to Corteva
Dave Anderson has replaced Gregory R . Friedman , who is retiring , as CFO at Corteva . Anderson had over a decade as CFO at Honeywell and more recently Alexion Pharmaceuticals . Corteva has also named four of ‘ activist ’ investor Starboard Value ’ s nominees – David Everitt , Janet Giesselman , Kerry Preete and Karen Grimes – to its board . This represents a compromise deal in a long battle for control of the firm .
New chair at Clariant
Günter von Au was elected as the new chairman of the board of directors at Clariant during a virtual AGM on 7 April . He replaces Hariolf Kottmann , who had served two stints as CEO , combining the second one with the role of chairman . Von Au has been a member of the board since 2012 and was vice chairman from 2012 to 2018 .
New Nouryon director
Nouryon has appointed Julie Aslaksen to its board of directors . Described as “ a highly accomplished public company general counsel and corporate secretary ”, she has over 20 years of legal and business leadership experience , including at General Dynamics Information Technology and Host Hotels & Resorts .
Milestone at Bachem
Lab technician Laksiya Kanagaratnam ( centre ) became the 1,000th person to be recruited at Bachem in Bubendorf , Switzerland . Senior managers , including CEO Thomas Maier ( right ), welcomed her to mark the occasion . Separately , Dr Alex Fässler was named a new director at the AGM on 28 April . This follows a 22-year career with the firm , rising to be COO .
Two join ICL Leysen to chair DSM
ICL has named Chris Millington as EVP of food and specialties for the Phosphate Solutions division after the retirement of company veteran James Moffatt . Millington s most recently served as the global president of Firmenich ’ s Flavours division and had also spent 13 years with Nestlé . In addition , Gadi Lesin , former CEO of Israel ’ s largest food company , has joined ICL ’ s board as an independent director .
Sebbesse heads Krahn
Axel Sebbesse has become a managing director and also chief development officer of the Hamburg-based Otto Krahn Group , which comprises Krahn Chemie and three plastics-oriented firms . He had already been group managing director of Krahn Chemie since 2008 .
DSM has named Thomas Leysen to succeed the recently retired Rob Routs as chair of the supervisory board and has also named Corien M . Wortmann-Kool , who chairs the board of ABP Pension Fund , to the board . Leysen originally joined the supervisory board in 2020 . Both took up their roles at the AGM on 6 May .
