Ethyl acetate from biomass
CropEnergies has taken a licence to use Johnson Matthey ’ s DAVY ethyl acetate process technology in a new 50,000 tonnes / year plant at Zeitz , Germany , that will make renewable ethyl acetate from renewable ethanol feedstock using renewable energy . Ethyl acetate is widely used in cosmetics , flexible packaging and coatings , paints and adhesives , food , beverage and pharmaceutical applications .
Transition done
Curia has fully completed the transition of Integrity Bio and LakePharma , which it acquired in August and September 2021 respectively , to its brand and their websites now lead to its own , curia . com . “ This change reflects the accelerated organisational integration of the acquired companies into Curia ,” the company stated .

TriRx completes Elanco site buy

Connecticut-based CDMO TriRx Pharmaceutical Services has finalised and closed on an agreement to buy Elanco Animal Health ’ s site in Speke , near Liverpool , UK . The two companies had agreed a two-facility sale and long-term supply agreement in 2021 , covering this site and another in Shawnee , Kansas , which TriRx took over last August . TriRx officially took ownership of the Speke facility on 1 February , bringing its total number of sites to five , with two manufacturing facilities in North America and two in Europe . Originally

built by Eli Lilly , Speke can make both human and animal health products . The approximately 350 employees will all transfer . A formal celebration event took place on 8 February , attended by the local MP , Maria Eagle , other local dignitaries , key customers , pharmaceutical executives , personnel from both firms and local community members .
New buy for Solenis
Solenis has acquired SCL , a Ludwigshafen-based producer of DMA3 , a primary raw material for cationic polyacrylamide production . The company said that this helps Solenis to fulfil a strategic insourcing objective and supports its strategic global growth plan polyacrylamide . This its first buy since being acquired by Platinum Equity .
Lonza extends offer
Lonza has extended its collaboration with venture capital forms Forbion and BioGeneration Ventures ( BGV ). It will henceforth provide services relating to small molecules for Forbion and BGV portfolio companies active in the biopharmaceutical space as well as large molecule biologics . This includes drug substance , particle engineering and oral solid drug product development and regulatory services .

Kemira ships first biomassbalanced polyacrylamide

Kemira has started full-scale production of its newly developed polyacrylamide polymer based on biobased feedstock . The first commercial volumes are being shipped to one of the wastewater treatment plants of Helsinki Region

Environmental Services for trials . The polymer is water-soluble and offers the same technical specifications as its conventional equivalent , the company stated . As well as water treatment and other water-intensive sectors , it can be used in the energy industry and potentially also in demanding papermaking applications . “ The development of completely new and sustainable polymer chemistry doesn ’ t happen overnight and is costly and time-consuming . Especially for our technically demanding customer applications , so far it was challenging to find comparable biobased alternatives ,” noted Sampo Lahtinen , VP of R & D and technology in the EMEA region . Kemira makes the new polymers at sites in Italy and the UK according to the principles of biomass balance , in which most fossil-based raw materials are replaced by International Sustainability & Carbon Certification ( ISCC ) -Plus certified biobased and renewable mass-balanced feedstoc .
