Chemours divides segment
Alisha Bellezza and Denise Dignam have been named president of Chemours ’ Thermal & Specialised Solutions and Advanced Performance Materials segments respectively , following the division of its Fluoroproducts segment into two . The former divisional president , Edwin Sparks , has become president of the Titanium Technologies business .
Minafin welcomes two
The Minafin Group has named Gust Desmedt as chief strategy officer and Minh Hua as chief information and operational excellence officer . Desmedt joins from Solvay , where he worked as business unit and corporate strategy director for six years . Hua ’ s key responsibility will be to roll out an operational excellence programme following tests at affiliate company Minakem .
Espeland to Nouryon
Nouryon has named former Eastman Chemical CFO Curtis Espeland to its board . He will also chair the audit committee . This follows Noelle Walsh ’ s appointment to both bodies last year and brings the total number of board members to 11 , including representatives of the main owners , the Carlyle Group and GIC .
New Canada head for BASF
Apala Mukherjee , previously director of sustainability of value chains for BASF Corporation , has been appointed President of BASF Canada in place of Marcelo Lu , who has taken over the North American Care Chemicals division . In this role , she has responsibility for all of the company ’ s businesses in Canada .
Hartel to head Wacker
Wacker Chemie has appointed Dr Christian Hartel to start as its new CEO at the AGM on 12 May , when Rudolf Staudigl will retire . Formerly with Bain & Company , Hartel joined Wacker in 2003 , becoming president of Wacker Silicones in 2012 and joining the executive board in November 2015 . Angela Wörl will replace him as personnel director .
De Vré replaces Salik Ferrari drives into SK
Dr Raymond De Vré has been appointed CEO of the PolyPeptide Group , succeeding Jane Salik after 15 years in the position . She will remain on the board . De Vré , a Belgian national , was formerly with McKinsey and had spent the previous eight years at Dr Reddy ’ s Laboratories , rising to be global head of biologics .
Przybyla heads Eckart
Dr Christian Przybyla became president of Altana ’ s Eckart division , which specialises in effect pigments , on 1 March . He succeeded Dr Wolfgang Schütt , who left the company at his own request . Przybyla joined Altana in April 2015 as CTO of the Elantas division , following 15 years with Akzo Nobel .
Daniele Ferrari has been appointed senior director at SK Capital Partners , a private investment firm focused on the speciality materials , chemicals and pharmaceuticals sectors . Ferrari has over 35 years chemical industry experience , most recently as chairman of Matrica and then CEO of Versalis . He is also the immediate past president of CEFIC .
