Herbeaux steps down
Dr Jean Luc Herbeaux has stepped down from his role as CEO of Hovione for personal reasons. He will remain with the company until 30 September to ensure a smooth transition. CFO António Almeida and Dr Marco Gil, senior VP of sales and marketing are acting as co-CEOs until a new appointment is made.
Transition at Oqema
Lars Wallstein became CEO of chemical distributor Oqema Group on 1 July. His predecessor Patrick Barthels is moving at his own request to be regional president of the Flavours & Fragrances division after a six-month transition. Wallstein has more than 25 years of experience in distribution and speciality chemicals, most recently at IMCD. He is also the current president of FECC, the European Association of Chemical Distributors.
New CEO at Dow
Karen S. Carter became CEO of Dow on 1 July when Jim Fitterling stepped down to become executive chair of the board. Carter had previously served as president of the Packaging & Specialty Plastics business and then as chief operating officer( COO), overseeing business and operational performance company-wide, with responsibility for operating segments and key functional organisations.
Steinhagen heads Symeres
Symeres, a transatlantic CRDMO for drug discovery and development, has appointed Henning Steinhagen to succeed Guillaume Jetten as CEO. Steinhagen previously co-founded and led Lario Therapeutics and was a venture partner at Epidarex Capital. He had spent 25 years in the pharmaceuticals sector at companies including Aptuit, Grünenthal, Sanofi- Aventis and Bayer Pharma.
Maguire to Sterling
Septima Maguire is to succeed Matt Anderson as CFO of Sterling Pharma Solutions. They will work together over the coming months ahead of Anderson’ s retirement. Maguire brings 30 years of experience in global pharmaceutical and manufacturing businesses, most recently as CFO at Benchmark Holdings and previously at Dechra Pharmaceuticals.
Kullmann to stay on
Evonik has extended CEO Christian Kullmann ' s contract until 2030, saying he " stands for stability and continuity in challenging times ". The company also appointed Michael Rauch as CFO. Rauch previously held senior finance and leadership roles at Henkel, Selecta, CompuGroup Medical and Douglas.
Zutshi joins Syngene
Indian CRDMO Syngene has appointed Abhijit Zutshi as chief commercial officer. Based in the US, he will lead sales, client partnerships, marketing, account management and pipeline growth. Zutshi joins after 25 years at Biocon, where he rose to become chief commercial officer of its generics business.
New COO at Arkema
Laurent Tellier became COO of Arkema on 1 July, succeeding Marc Schuller on his retirement. Tellier, who has been with the firm since before its 2006 spin-off, will oversee all four business segments and continue to lead the High Performance Polymers and Fluorogases businesses until his successor takes up the role.
