Given these enabling factors, agrochemical firms will not only help India to achieve export surplus status but also help in driving India’ s socioeconomic development.
The government must address the registration procedure for novel agrochemical molecules while boosting the legal framework for data protection. While recent government reforms have helped the agrochemicals industry, along with other manufacturing sectors, more needs to be done if India is to emerge as a global CDMO hub for agrochemicals.
Apart from this Indian companies are still lacking in effective and efficient R & D, if Indian CDMOs start offering value added services to their clients which helps to reduce cost through the efforts in process optimisation, yield improvement and efficient cost structure, this approach will not only strengthen partnerships but also establish a robust foundation for long-term sustainability and global competitiveness.
To transform India from a costcompetitive CDMO centre into a global innovation hub, additional measures, such as greater R & D investment, supply chain integration, skills development and sustainability, are necessary to match global standards. It is through such concerted efforts by all public and private stakeholders that India will finally emerge as a reliable, innovative and competitive agrochemicals CDMO hub. ●
