EVENT PREVIEW
AVN has recently installed a spinning band distillation system
16,000 US gallon reactor at CJB Industries
Another notable player is CJB Industries of Valdosta , Georgia , which says that it “ collaborates with a diverse mix of companies – from helping small companies overcome production challenges , to supporting production and expansion strategies of mid-sized companies , to reliably delivering high-quality products for multinational companies ”.
The company works with traditional chemistry and new biological materials , and offers a wide range of services , including processing , blending , filling , packaging , warehousing and logistics . It recently added 600 m 2 of space to accommodate bulk production of select products . CJB is also currently finishing a 4,200-m 2 expansion to add a new laboratory , expanded processing and additional material handling areas .
Capital Resin Corporation ( CRC ) is a chemical toll manufacturer , catering to diverse production volume needs from lab to pilot to substantial annual quantities . The company portfolio includes free radical polymerisations , phenolic and resorcinol resins , amino resins , aromatic sulfonic acids , alkylated phenols , acetoguanamine , polyurethanes and polyurethane dispersions , and formaldehyde .
From its headquarters in Columbus , Ohio , CRC manufactures customerformulated industrial resins and also offers its own products . The company is active in R & D and also collaborates with clients to innovate and enhance
products . It says that it “ excels in packaging , labelling and shipping , providing production flexibility , ranging from gallons to drums , totes and tank trucks ”.
AVN Corporation of South Charleston , West Virginia , is an R & D firm with core competencies in the areas of chemicals and chemical manufacturing , technical engineering and advanced software technologies . The company says that it “ continues to invest in necessary infrastructure to support its global client base and market needs ”. Its key capabilities include :
• Process and product development
• Separation technologies
• Reaction & catalyst technologies
• Design & operation of process pilot plants
• Speciality & custom manufacturing AVN recently installed a highpressure , 400 US gallon , stainless steel reactor with jacket set-up for hydrogenation reactions or other chemistries . The reactor complements existing equipment such as separations and other reaction capabilities . It has also installed a new spinning band distillation system to quickly evaluate the separation of liquid mixtures with similar boiling points .
Away from custom manufacturing , International Process Plants ( IPP ) supplies used process plants and processes and used and secondhand process equipment to the general chemical , pharmaceutical , and fine and speciality chemical industries , among others .
In addition to this well-established business , the company is branching into a new business venture in response to customer demands . “ Customers are looking for assets we just don ’ t have on the open market and when we do get them , we sell them before we ever touch them ,” says Ross Gale , vice president and director of acquisitions .
IPP is therefore building commonly requested equipment that it does not have in its used stock , to the highest specifications , including cGMP and being polished inside and out , in order to accommodate all potential needs . These include stainless steel , Hastelloy and also some glass-lined reactors , in sizes of 4,000 , 6,000 and 8,000 US gallons .
This model differs from what most new equipment manufacturers offer , Gale says , because IPP can offer faster delivery times . By having vessels made for stock , the company is acquiring a significant proportion of manufacturers ’ shop time and can also insert vessels with custom requirements into its fabrication queue . ●
