Lanxess in Material Protection growth

Lanxess has acquired Paris-based biocide Intace , a supplier of speciality fungicides for the packaging industry . The company has also entered into exclusive negotiations to acquire the Theseo Group , a French supplier of disinfection and hygiene products , mainly for livestock farming in Europe and Latin America . Both will be part of the Material Protection Products ( MPP ) business unit . The Intace deal should close within Q1 , subject to standard consultation and regulatory approval processes , with rapid integration to follow . Terms

Nicolas Gallacier , head of marketing for industrial preservation and coatings within MPP , commented that Lanxess is strengthening its biocide technology platform for packaging and labels . “ We are also following a trend : plastics are more and more being replaced by paper in packaging ,” he added . Theseo is expected to have sales of € 33 million and an EBITDA in the midsingle-digit million euro range this year . Lanxess gives it an enterprise value of about € 70 million and expects it to be earnings-accretive within a year . The company said that it believes that rising biosecurity requirements in the relevant fields mean that there is strong growth potential .

Azelis buys four in Vietnam , Philippines

Azelis is has acquired a majority stake in two Vietnamese firms , MKVN Chemicals and Viet Chemicals , and two Phillipines firms in Asia Primera Kimika ( APKI ) and Phil-Asiatic Supply & Services ( PSSI ). This continues a recent spree of acquisitions and investments in Asia for the global distributor . MKVN Chemicals and Viet Chemicals previously belonged to Bellekimia Singapore . Both were founded in 2000 and have offices in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City . They are active in personal care , industrial chemicals , agrochemicals and food , with about 700 customers . They also have personal care laboratories . Azelis said that the deal is “ consistent with Azelis ’ corporate strategy of complementing organic growth with strategic acquisitions ”. Kamal Hezry Kassim , managing director of both companies , will remain in his position . APKI and PSSI were established in 2007 by Mohammed Kassim bin Salleh , a Malaysian , and the late Cris S . Aquino . They are mainly active in personal care , home care , paints , coatings , construction and inks , industrial chemicals and supply management . Laurent Nataf , CEO and president of Azelis Asia Pacific said that entering the Philippine market “ will help us gain an even better coverage in the entire region which is ‘ key ’ for us to attract new mandates with our existing principals . In late 2020 , Azelis had strengthened its Asian personal care business by acquiring Bronson and Jacobs Hong Kong and its subsidiary in Shanghai from Ixom . The firm specialises in the distribution of personal care ingredients , mainly for skin care . It has offices in Hong Kong , Shanghai and Guangzhou , the latter also including a laboratory . This in turn followed on from the acquisition of CosBond , a speciality chemicals and food ingredients distributor headquartered in Hong Kong and with facilities in China , in April , and other acquisitions in Asia , notably PT Primaditha Jaya Mandiri in the Indonesian food market and S . Zhaveri Pharmakem , in India ’ s pharmaceutical market .
