At Vitrum we will have on our booth a demo machine that will show how OPT works and the reliability of the software , that can detect defects even if lucite is still present on the glass surface .
Deltamax ’ s latest system , named OPT , is designed to detect structural defects in jumbo or regular sheets , enhancing the quality of the final product by optimising the entire production cycle , and in particular : - reduction of waste in the line and consequent time saving , leading to improve cycle times ;
- reduction of energy consumption and machinery wear , avoiding the processing of non-compliant sheets ;
- reduction of rejected glass area , thanks to the re-optimisation of the cutting plan ( optional with third part software ). These advantages highlight how the system , now installed in some of Italy ’ s most important glass factories such as Predari Vetri and Artigianvetro , can represent an important step towards a more sustainable production cycle , with a significant reduction in its environmental impact . A green choice that fits perfectly with the philosophy of Industry 4.0 according to which the system was developed , given the interaction with the line - in specific with the cutting table . As far as installation is concerned , the OPT system is inserted between the loader and the cutting table , and uses a patented system to check unwashed glass and detect bubbles and inclusions , assessing their gravity according to the set parameters - minimum size - and producing a map with their positions on the glass . The Deltamax development team is now working to expand the range of defects that can be detected , focusing in particular on scratches that affect the surface of the glass and foreign bodies that could end up between the glass and the PVB ( e . g . flies ). This map can be used by the cutting table ’ s management software to optimise the cutting plan , changing the position of single glass panes so that any defects found end up in the waste area ( as show in the picture ). The OPT system can control both monolithic and laminated glass sheets , with different configurations depending on the range of glass and PVB thicknesses . The system is easy to install ,

In 1992 SIPAR installed the first inspection system in a float glass production line for Pilkington , in its Porto Marghera plant .
