In the name of Industry 5.0 : OPT , the solution for cutting lines

Ideas , good ones , give birth on projects . Which then become solutions , which if they really solve practical problems become systems . Systems that then evolve , to satisfy more and more Customers and needs .

This is the canvas that led to the realization of OPT , a scanner for the quality control of unwashed plates , designed to be installed before the cutting table , at the beginning of the transformation process of jumbo ( or regular ) plates . It was an ambitious project , which aimed to improve the entire production cycle by identifying structural defects ( thus not “ repairable ”) and re-optimizing the cutting plan by placing these defects in the plate scrap . The advantages on paper were unquestionable : - no need to install a washing machine ( expensive and cumbersome given the size of the sheets ) - > low investment ;

- reduction of discarded glass area ( due to re-optimization of the single sheet ) - > increased productivity ;
- reduction of in-line rejection ( given by defect detection with traditional scanners ) - > reduction in average cycle time . The positive effect is thus ab- solutely evident but even augmented by a number of implications that perfectly espouse the new trends of reduced environmental impact and sustainability of production processes . Indeed , the non-processing of glass destined for waste results in a reduction of several factors which are perfectly in line with the criteria of Industry 5.0 : - water : sheets with non-conformities will not have to be washed ;
- electricity : sheets with nonconformities will not arrive on
