The use of high-quality cutting fluids improves the penetra- tion of the cutting wheel into the glass surface , making it easier to open the cut . Microcracks and splinters are significantly reduced . The result is a better edge quality . Another quality factor is the compatibility of the cutting fluid with glass coatings . Unlike petroleumbased cutting oils , these are not affected in any way .
