The $438,000 rig features a five-man cab, an enclosed pump control station, a 1,250-gallons-per-minute (gpm) pump and 1,000-gallon water tank. The truck will replace a 20-year-old pumper, though the department may keep the older model, according to Bauers. “There has been some interest from other departments in buying the truck, but we might keep it because we are considering have a substation in Trout Lake, which would lower homeowners insurance in that area,” said Bauers. The fire chief said the town of Arbor Vitae paid $300,000 toward the new truck and the fire department paid for the remaining $138,000, mostly with funds raised at the annual Firemen’s Picnic. The truck is being built by U.S. Tanker in Milwaukee.
