A HELMICK COVERED BRIDGE – located on County Road 343 near Blissfield , 1.5 miles east of State Route 60 . Originally built in 1863 and restored in 1996 , The Helmick Covered Bridge is one of Ohio ’ s oldest and is the only one in Coshocton County .
B TROOP TRAIN MEMORIAL – located on State Route 93 , just north of County Road 16
in West Lafayette . The Monument stands in memory of 33 members of the 109th Field Artillery Battalion , Pennsylvania National Guard , who were killed in a tragic train wreck in West Lafayette on September 11 , 1950 .
C THE OLD STONE FORT – located on County Road 254 , North of Isleta . Thought to be the oldest existing building west of the Appalachian Mountains , The builder of the fort is thought to be British Fur Trader George Croghan , who built the fort sometime around 1745 at the request of the Native Americans to protect them from the French .
D OHIO-ERIE CANAL & MONTICELLO III – located on State Route 83 , just north of State Route 36 . Originally part of the Ohio-Erie Canal built in 1825 , this section of the canal was restored in the early 1970s and is home to the horse-drawn canal boat ride .
E REACT TRIPLE LOCKS PARK – located just past the entrance to the Roscoe Village Welcome Center on North Whitewoman Street . This park features three restored locks from the Ohio Erie Canal , picnic areas , and fishing .
F COAL MINERS MEMORIAL – located at the corner of State Route 541 and Third Street on the Coshocton Court Square . This memorial was dedicated in 2013 in honor of the thousands of men and boys who labored in the coal mining industry in Coshocton County since the 1850s .

Historic sites and markers in the area G ROYER ’ S CHAPEL – located on Township Road 276B , just east of State Route 83 South . Originally built in 1897 , this tiny church was the smallest in the country until was burned by arsonists in 2002 . It was rebuilt in 2005 .
H CHALFANT CHURCH – located on County Road 439 east of State Route 60 near Wakatomika . Identified by historians as the first church in Coshocton County , it is listed on the National Register of Historic places . It was established in 1811 and continues to hold regular services .
I JOHNNY APPLESEED MEMORIAL – located in Newcastle off State Route 36 . Jonathan Chapman , best known as Johnny Appleseed , scattered his famous apple seeds along the tributaries of the Muskingum River .
J GOSPEL HILL LIGHTHOUSE – located on County Road 24 north of State Route 36 . Built by Gospel Hill Ministries in 2002 , it is the largest inland lighthouse in the country .
K LICHTENAU – located at the intersection of S . 2nd Street and Clow Lane In 1776 , Daniel Zeisberger , a Moravian missionary , built a log mission on this site with the permission of Delaware Chief Netawatwees , whose family had become Christians . The mission was abandoned in 1780 .
L PORTEUS INDIAN MOUND MONUMENT – located 1 mile south of Lichtenau just off 2nd Street . This prehistoric landmark is believed to have been built by the mound builders and to have once been 40 feet high .

M BROADHEAD ’ S MASSACRE – located on Chestnut Street near S . 16th Street . In 1781 , Colonel Daniel Broadhead was sent to capture or destroy all Indian Villages in the Muskingum River Valley . Broadhead ’ s army of 700 men then headed for Fort Pitt with about 20 prisoners . When the army stopped at this site for water , tension grew and all the male prisoners were killed .
N BOUQUET ’ S CAMP – located near Chili . In 1764 Col . Henry Bouquet was sent from Fort Pitt to negotiate a treaty with Indians . This site , near the village of Delaware Chief White Eyes , was the location of his first camp in the area .
O BOUQUET ’ S TREATY – Located on County Road 24 off of State Route 83N . Col Bouquet moved his camp to this site where he negotiated a treaty which broke the French influence over the Delaware Tribe and delivered over 200 white captives .
P COLONEL WILLIAM SIMMONS – located on Main Street in Warsaw . Monument in memory of Colonel William Simmons who served in the Continental Army under Gen . George Washington , who appointed him Accountant of the War Department . He also served under Presidents Adams , Jefferson and Madison .
