Special Lupus Awareness Issue May 2017 | Page 60

Dear Lupus, You came uninvited and you invaded my body and life silently and you have no mercy. You stole my health, my vision of myself . I am more than my illness and I continue to rise again and again to reinvent myself. There is a part of me you can never touch without my permission — my soul. I am God’s child and you can never take from me what I refuse to give. No cure. Life changes, regular doctor visits. Take medications daily. Frustration, fearful. Look good but feeling bad. Missing who I used to be, learning to love me through the pain. But I thank you because you showed me I am stronger than I thought I was. I, of your million victims will be ok. Inspiration, strength, courage, determination. Survivor always, warrior daily. #LupusWarrior 60
