Monica Victor is the Executive Producer of Manmay LaKay
Magazine and the sister of someone who passed away from
the complications of Lupus.
pain it unleashes when awakened within a
lupie (someone who has lupus).
Although I'm not a lupie, and have not borne
such a pain myself, I have borne witness to
its ferocity, unpredictability, savagery and
grip.
You see my sister was a lupie. But after a
year and a half long battle, God released her
from the claws of the wolf and like a
butterfly, she grew wings, angel wings on
March 2nd 2015. May her soul find rest.

is the month of May, the month
dedicated to Lupus Awareness. ‘Tis
May 10th World Lupus Day—the day
I stand with the rest of the world to help
raise awareness and to advocate on behalf of
the millions of people affected by
lupus. Today I release this magazine and
wear purple (the color for lupus) in honor of
my sister in heaven.
If you've never heard of this cruel mystery
you're probably wondering why 'does a wolf
grace the cover?'
Short answer? Lupus means wolf in Latin.
Lupus has two mascots and lupus is two-
faced—calm in remission and ruthless when
in flare.
There’s the gentle and delicate butterfly and
there’s the aggressive and ferocious wolf.

years ago was given three days to die, but
lived to tell her very courageous and
inspirational story.
You will learn all about this wolf, this lupus
wreaking havoc in the lives of millions of
people and families around the world.
You will find a touching letter from a then 14
year old Cleyanna Mathurin (Kiki) to the
wolf inside her and a very inspiring message
from Kiki's mom to all those in the battle.
May a cure be found in our lifetime and may
