Another incredible successful project Jonathan put together was Mick Fleetwood Private Cellar Wines . The Private Cellar chardonnay and merlot , for example , won gold and bronze medals at the Long Beach Grand Cru and San Francisco International wine competitions . And last summer The Wall Street Journal tagged Fleetwood for “ Best Wine by a Living Musician .”
“ We started this before all the other celebrities jumped in . We were in the finest hotels and restaurants and eventually I was able to sell us into COSTCO where we eventually went one weekend a month when not touring with music or recording , and Mick signed wine bottles to thousands of people snaking through the COSTCO aisles . We did this for years . Mick is always a great supporter of his own projects ( unlike most celebrities ) and he is the definition of a Trooper ! We ’ d have dinner at night and just talk about science , books , UFO ’ s , astronomy , art , history . . . Mick is an intellectual and I have to say that I have never met his conversational equal for a fine evening of dining and stimulating conversation .”
I asked Jonathan to define what his values for work were . It was a long answer . It included , “ I try to circumscribe my actions within due bounds ,” and “ The more I can give and help others the more peaceful I become inside my soul .” In the end , I have to sum up this unique character the way he himself summed up his own grandfather Julius A . Traum : Bigger than Life . A Force . A dandy who prides himself on perfection and drives himself to produce .
