LOCAL Branch News
Do you have a sling or baby carrier lying around which you no longer need?
Local NCT Practitioners working with Homestart, Migrant Help and St Paul’s Church run a drop-in in Thornton Heath, providing support and friendship to pregnant and new mothers living in temporary accommodation who are asylum seekers, refugees, victims of trafficking. The drop-in supports 300 women a year who have nothing. Food, clothing and a hospital bag for labour are provided, but a need for slings and baby carriers has been identified. Slings and baby carriers allow mothers to keep their babies close, enable travel and do not take up space (which is very limited in the temporary accommodation).
Our target is to collect 300 slings or baby carriers, providing one for every women being supported at the drop-in.
Contact Jenny, [email protected] if you have a sling or baby carrier to donate. You can also drop off your slings and baby carriers at the Clapham NCT Nearly New Sales on 16 June and 22 September (9.30-11.30am Broomwood Methodist Church, 155a Broomwood Road, SW11 6BD) or every week at the Balham Breastfeeding Cafe (10-11.30am, St.Andrew's United Reformed Church, SW12.
