Meet the Volunteer

Your Local NCT

Q: How was childbirth for you?

I had a planned C section for medical reasons so it was very quick. It took a while to recover physically. I hadnt appreciated that it is quite a major operation.

Q: Best and worst things about being pregnant?

I must admit I spent most of my time on the sofa eating... but unfortunately it then took ages to get the weight off. (its not like in the movies). I think i managed to vomit at most tube stations in London so overall it wasnt great but all worth it in the end!

Q: How has having children changed your philosophy of life?

I now have a new appreciation for mothers and all the hard work they put it in with their children.

Q: What have you found the most rewarding about motherhood?

When my daughter thanks me for doing something without being prompted. All those reminders do finally sink in!

Q: What have you found to be the greatest challenge in being a parent?

Realising all the things I want to do will have to take a back burner for a while until my daughter is a bit older. There are only so many hours in the day.

Q: What encouraged you to volunteer for your NCT role?

Our lovely Branch Chair, Emma Finlay, is a good friend of mine and she asked me to help out and I thought why not.

Q: What would you say to someone thinking of volunteering?

It's a great way to meet people and feel you are doing something in the community to help others.

Q: What is your ideal way to spend a child-free afternoon, or evening?

Watching some good old trashy TV.
