The BIG Interview - Kamiljit Hair We continue our series of interviews with interesting people with learning disabilities. Today Nick Benjamin meets someone who’s been part of many of Speak Out’s different projects and groups. Please introduce yourself... I am Kamiljit Hair, I am 40 and live in Hounslow West. I’m involved in Speak Out’s Arts & Crafts group & the Peer Information Project (PIP). I am also doing the Weigh2Lose group. What’s it been like on PIP? I have enjoyed doing work experience at the cafe at Ealing Hospital. I helped served tea and coffee and cold drinks. I serve the customers and do the washing up! It’s a nice place to Kamaljit at work in Ealing Hospital Cafe. work and its very friendly. Now today... I am talking to you at the Arts and Crafts group. What do you think of it? We’ve been making lots of things. Today we made a bracelet and we have also made paper flowers. The flower shop down the road has them in their window! People can see them Kamaljit with Jackie from the street. I like making things. the Art & Craft tutor You have also been part of Speak Out’s The Art & Craft Group’s flowers in the window drama group and aren’t you part of of Vogue Flowers, Brentford Weigh2Lose too? Yes! I enjoy doing the exercise . You have to drink lots of water. They weigh everyone to see if we are losing weight. I am! So when you aren’t involved in Speak Out projects what do you like to do? I like doing craft. I like listening to music and also cooking. I’d like to go on a cooking course. It sounds like you have a busy life! Yes... I also like clothes shopping with friends.
