Learning Disability Awareness at the bank
CCP members held an event at Barclays
Bank to raise awareness of people with
learning disabilities & Speak Out’s projects.
We had a stall at the front of the bank and
talked to hundreds of customers as they
came in. We gave out leaflets with information about learning disabilities and how it
affects people. Barclays staff worked with us
and helped us fundraise for Speak Out!
Going to leisure centres
We have run more groups asking people
what they think about local leisure centres
and how easy they are to use. In January, we
went to West Thames College. Students told
us they wanted cheaper sessions, more
sports clubs and friends to go with.
TfL tell us about their new travel campaign
We have lots of interesting speakers at our
CCP monthly meetings. In February, Sophie
from Transport for London (TfL) came to tell
us about their new Come on Board campaign
which is all about trying to make it easier for
disabled people to travel in London.
Members told her about problems they have
with the buses. Sophie said she will ask if
anything can be done to make it better.
