Mikayla Baugh, the Junior Class Vice President, hails from Prince George's County, Maryland and is majoring in psychology. She regards SGA as a nurturing organization that fosters advocacy and unity among students.

Baugh described it as, "basically just being a family," providing a robust support system for tackling obstacles and seizing opportunities.

Working alongside Junior Class President Justin Marshall, Baugh's P.R.O.J.E.C.T. 25 Administration is committed to readying juniors for the real world, offering networking events and exposing them to new horizons.

Sierra Leone Sanders, a senior exercise science major from Beaumont, Texas, by way of New Orleans, Louisiana, serves as Miss Norfolk State University.

She is committed to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion. She focuses on creating an inclusive campus environment, particularly for individuals with disabilities, both visible and invisible.

“I will do so through OASIS, Career Services, Student Success Services, and things like that. Just so people have more awareness about the struggles of those who have disabilities and their daily lives,” she explained.

“I am someone who has a disability. It is invisible, but I want the university to remember me as somebody who created change.”

Sanders hopes that she keeps the same momentum from competing in the pageant to leave a legacy at NSU. She wants her future successor to have the same influence on the student body.

Za’Chary Jackson, a mass communications major from Natchitoches, Louisiana, who serves as Mister Norfolk State University, is more than a name; he is an embodiment of excellence, integrity, and commitment to positive change.

He envisions fostering community connections both on and off campus. He collaborates with community organizations, resource centers, and fellow students to enhance the university's global standing.

“Something that I’m using my platform for, is also by working on and off campus with community events, collaborating with other organizations on and off campus, resource centers as well,” Jackson said.

Jackson eagerly anticipates leaving a legacy of resourceful collaborations and engaging events. He envisions Norfolk State University as a beacon of change and progress.

Norfolk State University's Student Government Association and Royal Court are dynamic entities working tirelessly to enhance the student experience, bridge communication gaps, and advocate for change.

With goals ranging from diversity and inclusivity to financial literacy and community engagement, these student leaders are leaving an indelible mark on the university.
