Spartan Echo is Back
By Octavia Johnson
Editor's letter
The Spartan Echo Newspaper is historic for the university. The legacy goes as far back as when the office was three small rooms filled with reporters who worked on their news stories from sun up to sun down.
That's why I was honored to serve as this year's Editor-in-Chief to rebuild the newspaper into the digital space.
My goal is to have the Echo grow before I graduate in May 2022.
It is also an honor to work with future reporters, photographers and multimedia journalists as they find their niche within digital journalism.
We should continue the practice of writing, reserach and reporting as future journalists.
In this issue, we contributed stories within the Norfolk community and outside to other places in Virginia.
From MCJR Week to the protests at Howard University, the reporters focused on the major impacts that affected everyday people.
With new reporters coming to work in the newspaper from diverse backgrounds, I'm hoping the stories relate and engage to the audience.
To those who encouraged us to proceed with this publication ... thank you.
