Welcome to our new chamber staff!
Eric Roellig
Media & Communications Coordinator
I was born in Viroqua, graduated from
Kickapoo High School, then spent most of my
life in La Crosse and West Salem. In July of 2018
my wife and I moved to Sparta after purchasing
my mother and father in laws home. I have two
step-sons, both UWL students (Computer
science and Software engineering majors
respectively), and a 10 year old son who has
plans of working for NASA. This desire was only
strengthened by his recent experience in this
year’s Deke Slayton Space Camp. My wife is a
Clinical Therapist for Mayo Healthcare, having
recently transferred to the Sparta campus to
work in the community in which she was raised.
We enjoy working around our home and
listening to our children argue about video
games. My family’s last name is pronounced
similar to Relic except with a G at the end.
I worked for the River Valley Media Group for 17 years. Six of those years as a Graphic Artist
and the rest in their online department as Web Developer and Webmaster for three daily
newspapers, six weekly papers, and several specialty publications. I left that role in 2016 to
make a change in my life. This change included my returning to Viterbo University and
completing a Bachelors degree I started in the 90’s. I graduated last December with a major in
Management Information Systems and a minor in Art. I have many interests and hobbies
including astronomy, robotics, programming, and reading, but after moving have been trying
to focus on woodworking in the small shop behind my home.
I am excited for this new position as it is exactly the kind of work I am passionate for. I love the
opportunity to create, develop, troubleshoot, and be involved in promoting that which is good
in this world. I think we can all agree, goodness is a goal worthy of aspiration. I look forward to
meeting new people, becoming active in the community, and learning more about yourselves
and Sparta, my new home.
