September Recap...
The last full moon bike ride of the summer was held on
September 14. An adventurous group of bikers rode to the
Best Western Trail Lodge (a long time Chamber member) and
enjoyed refreshments at remodeled Brewski’s. The clouds
parted at the end of the ride revealing a great view the full
moon. Moonlight bike rides will resume next May.
A large crowd of officers, soldiers, military families, cham-
ber members and Sparta Honorary Citizens enjoyed the
annual Military Appreciation Business After 5 on September
19 at South Post. Participants enjoyed a great picnic meal
prepared by Chamber member Jake’s Northwoods, music by
the Craig Olson Project, games, and prizes.
The second of three planned cycling murals was completed
in September. The bridge mural was painted onto the side
of Chamber member Bob Lehman’s Captain’s Corner Bar-
ber Shop. The murals will be dedicated during Fall Fest on
Saturday, October 12. The murals are made possible through
funding from the Sparta Area Chamber of Commerce and the
City of Sparta.
Students from the Sparta Area School District’s STEM
Academy rode the Elroy-Sparta Bike Trail and explored
tunnel #3 on September 17. The students had a beautiful
day on the trail and finished with ice cream at the Cham-
ber depot. Thanks to the STEM faculty for providing this
opportunity to their students.
