Fort McCoy Commemorative Area open Aug. 10, 18 and 24 to walk-in visitors
The Fort McCoy Commemorative Area will be open for walk-in visitors from noon to 4 p.m. Aug. 10
and 24 and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 18. Members of the public are welcome.
The Commemorative Area consists of the Equipment Park, five World War II-era buildings with his-
torical displays, the History Center, and Veterans Memorial Plaza. The History Center and World War
II-era buildings contain artifacts dating from Fort McCoy’s inception in 1909 up to present day.
Members of the public must present valid photo IDs at the main Gate to get a visitor’s pass. For infor-
mation on visitors’ passes, call the Visitor Control Center at 608-388-4988.
Groups of 15 or more may schedule tours from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. For more
information, call the Public Affairs Office at 608-388-2407.
Business Appreciation Night set for Aug. 30
We invite you to join us at the annual Fort McCoy Business Appreciation Night (Tomah Business After 5),
Thursday, Aug. 30 beginning at 5 p.m. The event will be held in the courtyard at McCoy’s Community Club,
building 1571.
Finger foods and beverages are provided, and guests can register to win door prizes. To gain entry to Fort Mc-
Coy, be sure to bring with you the event flier (enclosed elsewhere in this newsletter) and photo identification.
Police officers at the gate will be checking for these items.
