The Sparta Area Chamber of Commerce and the Downtown Cooperative are seeking support
for this year’s downtown hanging flower basket program. To enhance the look of the
downtown area, the groups are again making plans to have Sparta Floral and Greenhouses
create the beautiful hanging baskets that we have all come to love and enjoy.
In order to accomplish this task, we are again calling on businesses, organizations, and
individuals for donations to help with the cost of each basket. Please remember that besides
the purchase of the flowers, your sponsorship pays for the baskets to be fertilized and watered
regularly. Thirty flower baskets are placed in the downtown which cost about $100 each to
produce and maintain throughout the summer. Donations in any amount are appreciated.
The City of Sparta is very helpful in supporting the flower basket program, but we depend upon
donations to cover a majority of the costs.
The Chamber and Downtown Cooperative are
very grateful for previous donations which have
sustained this project in past years. We are
also looking for more businesses, organizations,
and individuals to participate. Donations may
be made in honor of someone, or as a
memorial. All donations will be recognized on a
sign placed in the downtown Mueller Park and
in the Sparta Area Chamber newsletter.
Please make checks payable to the Sparta Area
Chamber of Commerce and mail to the
Chamber Depot, 111 Milwaukee Street in
Sparta.
It is understandable that donations for the 2020
flower basket program are less than in previous
years. Please give generously so we can all
enjoy this beautiful addition to our downtown.
