Staff Training

At Camp Fire, we pride ourselves on the level of training each of our staff members undergo before working directly with the youth in our program. For this program specifically all of our

staff members go through a two week training program designed to prepare them specifically for facilitation of the Sparks program. Our staff will undergo 8 hours of training with Focused Fitness LLC. This training is designed to familiarize them with the two Focused Fitness LLC curriculum elements we implement. In addition, a portion of this training is dedicated to skills to manage the energy of a group in positive and productive ways. The staff spends half a day learning and working with the Thrive Theory of Change. Furthermore, they spend a full day learning successful ways to implement quality youth programs and self-assess programs with the Weikhart Center’s YPQA tool. To tie the training together, We Are Coaching Leaders will lead the team through a “Youth Work 101” training. As supplemental trainings, the staff experiences base level youth development trainings, Camp Fire history trainings, and successful curriculum development training. When hiring for this position, Facilitators are required to have two years of successful youth development work. The Sparks Facilitators are directly supervised by the Elementary Program Director who is supervised by the Out of School Time Director.
