My Story
Childhood
I was born on July 31, 1997 in West Union, Iowa to Dawn and David Amundson of Elgin. I was three weeks early. I did not want to cry when I was born which worried my Mom and the doctor. They determined that I was alright though and my grandparents were called announcing the birth of their first grandaughter. I had black curly hair, the curls dissapeared later.
Elementary
Nothing scared my parents more than seeing me go off to school for the first time. They wanted to hold me back a year because they did not think that I was ready to go to school. I was talking at 18 months and they thought I was not ready for school. So I went to Preschool when I was three and absolutely loved it. Then my baby brother was born and my world changed from being an only child and loving it, to having to share the spotlight.
Jr. High
I lived through the rest of my Elementary School years and made it to Junior High as a Seventh Grader. Suddenly I had to adjust to a bell schedule, as well as more teachers that I was used to. When my class became eigth graders we were not thrilled at all. The sixth graders were
joining us for what would become Valley Middle School. Again we lived through that mess and moved up to High School.
Don't give up Ever
If there is one piece of advice that I can give to any one kid that is in Elementary it is Don't give up ever, even when the odds are stacked against you, or when people tell you that you can't do anything that will amount to much. Keep trudging to your ultimate goal. High School for me has been an uphill battle but I am almost done and have not given up a fight trying to prove those people who tried to hold me back wrong. I can do anything if I put my mind to it. Next year I will be a Senior at North Fayette Valley High School and nothing can top that feeling of accomplishment. That I did something worthwhile and had amazing people to help me along the way.
