LETTER FROM THE GENERAL MANAGER
SHILES ' STORY
Dear Member , Happy New Year !
While some may be glad to see 2020 in the rearview-mirror , I look back on it as a year of learning , growing and understanding .
We learned a great deal about our staff as they adapted to a new way of operating the business . The team responded quickly to local , state and national guidelines for safety and created protocols for our facility to provide a safe environment for our members and guests . We learned the true heart of our members as you organized and contributed to an employee fund that helped our food and beverage staff through a couple of trying months . We learned as individuals to respect others as we all have had different comfort levels with social activities over these past months .
We grew as individuals as we took personal responsibility for increased hygiene practices , social distancing and consideration for others . We grew the business by reacting quickly to the changes in the marketplace and learned to manage the demand in place of creating demand . Our team grew exponentially as we worked together to continue to provide a good experience for those who made the choice to visit the club .
We became more understanding and tolerant of others ; we accepted the differences in opinions on the issues of our country and the world and we were not dissuaded by any negative commentary . We gained a better understanding of who we are serving each day and the demand or lack thereof for the different services we provide .
I am very proud of our team at Spanish Wells Country Club , the membership , the AOC , the CLC and the SWCA board as we successfully navigated 2020 together which will make us even stronger in the years to come .
I hope all of you had a safe and joyful holiday season , I hope 2020 was a year of learning , growing and understanding , and I wish you a healthy and happy New Year .
