GOLF PROFESSIONAL UPDATE Happy Holidays! I cannot believe that it is almost December and 2019 is coming to an end! With every end comes new beginnings and in January 2020 the USGA and The R&A will unveil the new World Handicap System. Below are a few key changes to the handicap system. • Handicaps will be updated daily • You only need 54 holes (Combination of either 9 or 18 hole rounds) to establish a handicap • The maximum hole score will be capped at net double bogey • Weather and course conditions will be factored into your score The World Handicap System is designed to focus on three main objectives: to encourage as many golfers as possible to obtain and maintain a handicap; to enable golfers of differing abilities, genders and nationalities to transport their handicap to any course globally and compete on a fair and equitable basis; and to indicate with sufficient accuracy the score a golfer is reasonably capable of achieving on any course around the world, playing under normal conditions. We also have some exciting news for the month of December. First, we will have complimentary golf carts after 1PM for all Members! Secondly, on December 15th our Superintendent Andy Maguire (Santa) will have a little bit of fun setting the golf course up for our Santa’s Revenge Tournament. Please be sure to book your tee time to see what Santa has in store for you! Lastly, Thank You for making 2019 a great year and we can’t wait to see everyone in 2020! Brad Calkins PGA 6
