LETTER FROM THE GOLF COURSE SUPERINTENDENT
RICH ' S RAP
What a summer we had ! Moving forward into season from our normal summer-time horticultural practices cannot come any sooner . We look forward to the day when all our hard work gets to be shown off for the membership and our outside play . From late March through October , it has been a grind like no other I have been part of . The crew here at maintenance was challenged in many ways but came out on top every time . All three nines will be in great shape and ready for seasonal play .
Our over-seeding of the north course was delayed by Mother Nature but will have grown in nicely . This season we are doing a test of what it would be like with and without seed on the property . We did not seed anything on North 5 . We will fertilize and use pigments when needed to maintain a nice color and turf health . If our weed management practices after season our very successful , we might be able to reduce the amount of seed we use moving forward . Stay tuned !
As many of you already know , we had a very big greens renovation project take center stage this summer . The North Greens and collars are still shining . We also completed a couple of other smaller projects . East 2 and 4 now have new Green Tee boxes . North 4 also has a new walk up area to the tee for our golfers who would like to test their golfing ability from the back tees on that hole . 7 East also received some long overdue work . The cart path next to the green was raised 12 + inches and the lake bank was re-done to eliminate standing water and unsightly turf conditions at that location . Looking forward to seeing all the membership in action on the course this season . Say hi , stop us and let us know how you think we are doing and what you are seeing .
See you around the course ,
Richard Osgood
