Is part of a song of ULTRAVOX called "All in one day" a very powerful track from

Ultravox´s FIRST return in 1986 but without Warren Cann. A funny way to start an article about Ultravox, perhaps we should go back to 1980 when i REALLY started

getting into music and collecting records, you know the vinyl ones that you

put on your turntable, put the needle on and played for real!! Ok.. anyway the end

of the 70´s was getting a little cooler, i remember tracks like Ma Baker from Boney M in the car on the way to Margate, those catchy tunes no matter how much you heard them they stuck to you and you remembered them. Then back to 1980 when we visited a record shop in Melton Mowbray, leics where I lived for many years in the UK walking up those steps on King Street, maybe the record shop was called Kings Records or maybe i´m just making it up. ANYWAY.. I loved just flicking through the vinyls and i remember buying Prince Charming by Adam and the ants, a classic LP that i listened to continually.

Between me and my older brother Steve we bought 45s of groups like

Madness and me and my best mate David Buttress later on in 1982 when i had moved to Wigston Magna, only 11 years old, blasted by music and films like Star Wars, Raiders of the lost ark and E.T. I think it wasnt until 1984 that we started rummaging around the record stores for WHATEVER we could find!! Looking back its uncanny how i seemed to find GREAT THINGS just as groups were stopping or they were changing.

In 1984 i remember us picking up LPs from Jean Michel Jarre and Depeche Mode. The first Ultravox LP i discovered was from Melton Mowbray library around 1986 - The Collection, sounds weird i know as Ultravox started with Midge Ure in 1980 as i can swear i had heard of them before on the radio on holidays but the quest for new LPs started late and i was 14 before i found out about Ultravox on vinyl in the library.

I think in about a month i took out LPs from groups like Level 42, OMD and between me and my mate David (Dee) we found out about Howard Jones, Nik Kershaw, Wang Chung, Madonna, Phil Collins & Micheal Cretu - plus lots of other misterious groups like Gung -Ho with their "play to win" a mishmash of german, english and japananese songwriters... anyway... most were our favourites and i had joined this record club where you had to buy so many records every month and Midge Ures first solo album was one of them - from 1985. In a year me and my mate Dee and caught up in all the music we had lost out on since 1980 a continuation of what i was

doing in the past. I´d bike up to his house most nights and we would sit and listen to

12"s and LPs all day and night, watching films and really chilling. We would go to his house

at lunch times and eat pot noodles and catch up. So this was now 1986 - Jean Michel Jarre bought

out an unforgettable LP called Rendezvous, Nik Kershaw bought out Radio Musicola, Depeche Mode

bought out Black Celebration and Ultravox had returned with U-VOX.

U-VOX was different from the rest of the LPs of Ultravox, i had actually bought the tape of it, maybe
