Teresa has worked in the area of complimentary medicine for over twenty-two years in Ireland and has been a constant visitor to Spain over the last twelve years where she comes to visit her family that live there. She started her journey as a holistic massage therapist and her journey progressed from there to healing, spirituality, psychotherapy and play therapy. Teresa has her own experience as a parent and grandparent for over thirty-seven years and would understand that as a parent there are times that parents need some extra support on how to deal with different issues as regards parenting e.g. challenging behaviour, children’s emotions etc.
After working as a family visitor in Ireland with a group called Lifestart, which is a home-based parenting programme and having visited over thirty families per month for five years and working as a play therapist Teresa felt that there was a need to run workshops for parents that helped parents to acknowledge their strengths as parents and to gain skills that built and enhanced those strengths even more.
This workshop has a holistic approach to parenting. It looks at every aspect of the child and parent. It helps parents to know that they are ‘good enough’ parents by understanding that the needs of their children and what they want as parents for their children are very close to the same thing. The workshop gives parents the space to reflect on their own parenting, gain support form other parents and learn new skills that will build strong relationships between them and their children.
