The year has been very challenging for the 2016-2017 SPAL trustees. There were 6 trustee positions that required to be filled at SPAL AGM in June 2017 and we did not have the quorum to proceed with the election. The election was postponed until SPAL Diwali Manoranjan programme which took place on 5th November 2017. Between June and November we canvassed for volunteers for the vacant posts and we were struggling. Navratri was our last hope to reach out to the members. The trustees worked hard to appeal to board to help train new trustees. I would the members during Navratri and the like to thank the new team for coming response received from the members forward and the outgoing trustees for had been fantastic. At the election staying on board to ensure continuity during the Diwali Programme, we and success of SPAL. managed to fill the vacant positions and in addition we have a backup team in In conclusion, I feel very proud that we place for each trustee to train and move have members who care that SPAL is forward. The complete election process a valued asset and will remain so for was over in less than 30 minutes. The the foreseeable future. SPAL holds its outgoing trustees also agreed to stay on volunteers at heart, because they are here of their own free will to help and ensure that all our events, are enjoyed by all. Without the volunteers we will not be able to run the kind of events that we run at SPAL. They are the lifeline of our organisation.
