brain has signs of anxiety , stress , high BP , high cholesterol etc . He explained the causes due to infection , cancer , alcohol , aging and taking too many medications , etc . One should drink plenty of water and stay hydrated for the brain to stay active . His main message was to ‘ change your brain , change your lifestyle ’!
Dr Garuth Chalfont from Lancaster University , a researcher and a Therapeutic Landscape Gardener for hospitals and care homes , explained the benefits of Nutrition , Physical Activity , Socialising , Mental Stimulation , Sleep , Mind , Body and Emotions . The message was that we all need fresh air and exercise so get outside and enjoy nature as all this helps to improve our mental health and improve our immune system .
Manubhai Mistry , a qualified Pharmacist and retrained as a holistic practitioner , presented the benefits of holistic and complimentary medicine , highlighting that prevention is better than cure . He also talked about home remedies such as turmeric , honey etc to fight inflammation .

health ’! He explained the effect of ‘ environment ’ on mind and health , e . g . houseplants , community , work , seasons and family factors . He looked at emotion , the way we function , how a human body is constructed , and talked about Reiki healing : ‘ remember who you are , you are pure spirit ’! Acceptance is having faith despite the circumstances that all is well !
Then both Bharatbhai , Vice-President ( on behalf of Jitubhai ) and Hansaben , Secretary addressed the audience and presented 2 cheques for charity : £ 2,500 from London branch for Sewa Muni and Kasturba Ashram , and £ 1,500 from Leicester branch for the 37th Mahila Samelan .
The afternoon event started with a colourful Garbo from Leicester branch , and then the theme topic continued with a comedy drama from Tameside branch with a catch phrase ‘ I love my knees ’. It was about an elderly lady who tool part in exercise and social events and it involved the audience , who enjoyed it thoroughly .
The speakers and presentations were supported by translations . Well done Champaben and her team for a wonderfully entertaining play and an excellent delivery on the topic “ HEALTHY BRAIN HEALTHY LIFESTYLE ”.
Following the Mahila election , the new team was announced . Our congratulations and welcome to the new Mahila Team .
Finally , on behalf of the outgoing Mahila team , I would like to say a Big ‘ THANKS ’ to ALL the branches for their support and contribution to make the 37th Mahila Samelan a success . We could not have done this without your support .

Acknowledgement from New Mahila Committee Namaste and Jai Shree Krishna . We thank our former Mahila team Dakshaben and Pushpaben for the handover . We aim to support all branch Mahilas and the Samaj to the best of our ability . We ask for nothing other than for your support and attendance in upcoming events and meetings .
We organised the Family Fun Day for which we have provided a brief report . The Mahila Samelan was organised by the former Mahila team for which our thanks to Pushpaben for the Mahila Samelan Report .
Family Fun Day This year the Family Fun Day was held on 2nd July 2017 at Draycote Water . It was a beautiful sunny day with cars , families , gazebos and grills filling the park . Rugby branch once again organised bingo . The hot day ended for most families late in the evening , which proved it was a success .
