Often, Trustees are well meaning and have made do in the past. However, in the future, ignorance of the subject is not an acceptable excuse in the eyes of the law. Our members need to trust that we are delivering a benefit, and this is fundamental to our reputation and success. Trustees need to act in good faith according to your own constitution and to UK Charity Law. In many cases, it will be a case of tightening up governance, e. g. ensuring records are kept accessible and can be easily handed over to new committee members; the use of cloud services is ideal for this.
Stating the obvious, as Trustees we are legally responsible for the strategic vision and management of charities.
