‘‘ Tameside Branch Mahilas felt that the ‘ Grooming ’ subject needed to be addressed in some way ...’’

Namaste and Jai Shree Krishna
What a 12 months this has been so far ! Since becoming Mahila Convenor it has been a very eventful and challenging time defining the meaning of ‘ team work ’ to say the least . Since taking over in April 2015 , the SPA ( UK ) Mahila team have supported two Senior Samelans ; on 14th June 2015 in Leicester and 4th June 2016 in Coventry . On both occasions the HQ Mahila Team and the Branch Mahila Representatives had the opportunity to get involved with raffle tickets , food preparations and food serving . My thanks to all SPA ( UK ) Branch Mahila Representatives for their support .
Family Fun Day This year the Family Fun Day was held on 3rd July 2016 at Draycote Water . We had in excess of 300 people attending this year . The weather again was fantastic . We had the pleasure of the company of 95 year old Sitaben from Rugby at the picnic too . It was a brilliant day and thanks to Rugby branch , people played bingo , raffle and antakshari . Special birthday and graduations were celebrated with lots of champagne and cake after a barbeque feast !
36th Mahila Samelan The 36th Mahila Samelan was held on Sunday 17th April 2016 and hosted by Tameside Branch at the Queen Elizabeth Hall in Oldham . Preparation for this event started in September 2015 at the first HQ Pratinidhi meeting in London . The host branch wanted the HQ Mahilas and all the branches to be involved . Therefore they were asked to put suggestions forward at the first Pratinidhi meeting .

Many topics were suggested where the branch Mahilas felt the need to raise awareness such as Tehvaars , loneliness and cry for help . Following the feedback , Tameside branch chose the ‘ Cry for Help ’ topic ; under this banner two main subjects were selected : ‘ Grooming ’ and ‘ Caring in the Community ’. Those who remember that at the 35th Mahila Samelan in Birmingham
