Namaste
Another year has flown by and to be honest, we had some challenges. All the routine activities were handled well by the sub-committees. There were some tough times but most of the issues were overcome by mutual agreement.
Our charitable activities through individuals and branches were very commendable. SPA( UK) made a substantial donation to WaterAid to support projects in the Amhara region of Ethiopia. Many of our members are now taking up individual challenges to support their own charities. This shows how our members value charitable activities.
On the national arena, SPA( UK) was represented at meetings in Parliament together with other Hindu organisations. We have made valuable contributions to the caste legislation, crematoria issues, guide dogs access to Mandirs and many more topics of interest to our members.
Internationally, we have been active too. Liaison with other Prajapati organisations throughout the world is developing well. Work to support those requiring medical assistance in India is also ongoing. We should also not forget that over 200 of our members attended the gathering for the Indian PM Shree Narendra Modi, at Wembley.
This was the first full year where we had to operate under the revised constitution. It was intended to simplify decision making by involving nominated trustees from each of our fourteen branches. There is some work to do in this arena to make SPA( UK) more efficient. Trustees nominated by the branches will require to take an active part and ensure that they meet the obligations of the“ Charity Trustees”.
