Dear Dada
2015 is the 20th anniversary of your passing ….
how time has flown by! We, your grandchildren are all grown up and how proud you’d be that
we have achieved education, successful careers and some of us have married and welcomed
wonderful great grandchildren. During this journey you have been deeply missed but remained
cherished in our hearts.
You were born on 15 August 1924 in Kasbapar, a small village in the district of Surat in India. At
the age of 17 you achieved your book keeping certificate. Shortly after your wedding in 1942 you
and Ba sailed to Kenya in search of a better life. You worked tirelessly at different companies
and was well known and respected in the community. You earned a reputation for helping many
others in the Prajapati Samaj.

In 1966 you sensed new opportunities and took the brave step and moved with your family to
Zambia. You worked hard to bring up the family and provided the best education for your children.
After your children were all married and independently settled, you took yet another challenge
and started your very own successful business. In 1994 you sold your business and moved to the
UK to be closer to your family.
As we watch your great grandsons grow, we are reminded of your personality and tenacity to
succeed. We see in your great grandsons your energy, your ambition and your determination to
win against adversity. We see an extension of your love and affection as we watch them play with
our parents. Above all and through your great grandsons, we see your vision being realised.
Although we cannot hear your voice, see you smile, or feel your embrace, we know you are not far
away. We feel your presence with us always, guiding us to stay true to ourselves and challenging
us to achieve our potential. Most importantly we are reminded of your love and affection every
day. We are so proud to be your grandchildren and we are determined that your legacy lives on
through us and your great grandsons and beyond!
With all our love from Jeetain, Reshma and Nayomi and
great grandsons Shaan and Milan
