B R ANCH REPORT Tameside “...as we look back on what has been achieved together, we would like to take this opportunity to a say a massive “Thank You” to all our members...” Namaste and Jai Shree Krishna Wow where has 2014/2015 gone! Time certainly flies when you are having fun! The last 12 months have been very action packed with a day trip to Rhyl, taking part in the Senior Samelan, a mini Diwali get together to name but a few. The most memorable event has to be the 36th Annual Sports Day which was hosted by Tameside branch in September 2014. What a successful day that was and the sun even came out to say hello! It was a long and exhausting day but full of smiles, laughter and enjoyment by all our volunteers both young and old. The unity of Samaj and the community truly showed throughout the whole day. Special thanks to our youth leader Punam Mistry for taking on and organising a very successful event. The success just does not stop there. The following week was our annual bhajan bhojan programme which we have every year during Shradhdh. As with every year, we use this event to raise funds for local, national and international charities. This year was no different; funds were being raised for our local mandir, Shree Ram Mandir Building Project. There were o ver 600 people in attendance with bhajan mandalis from Rugby, Preston, Bradford as well as our local mandirs. A huge thank you to all our volunteers and supporters and a cheque donation of £5,001 towards the building project was made to Shree Ram Mandir on the 1st November by SPA (UK) Tameside. 1st November saw key members of the SPA (UK) Tameside branch taking a leading role in helping Shree Ram Mandir organise a fund raising event. A staggering £30,000 was raised on the night from the selling of lottery tickets and auctions. As we entered 2015, HQ Secretary Hansaben approached Tameside branch to host a Northern fund raising event in March in aid of SPA (UK). An evening of bhajans, lok-geets, jokes etc around Mothers Day was provided by Rameshbhai and Parivar. Funds of over £500 were raised. Thank you to Preston, Bolton and Bradford branches for their support at this event. Finally, as we look back on what has been achieved together, we would like to take this opportunity to a say a massive “Thank You” to all our members for their continued and valued support. Wishing you all a very Happy Diwali and a prosperous New Year. Tameside Branch 74
